Chalk Streams in the Cam Valley

Flowing quietly through the landscape, the Cam Valley’s rare chalk streams are among its most special natural features. The History of Rail in the Cam Valley

The expansion of the railway across the Cam Valley formed an inverted 'Y' shape branching south from Cambridge. The eastern branch (now the West Anglia Main Line to London Liverpool Street) follows the River Cam toward Whittlesford Parkway, while the western branch (now the Cambridge Line to London King's Cross) follows the River Rhee, a major tributary of the Cam, toward Meldreth.
