Like most National Cycle Network Routes it follows quieter roads. This route includes the DNA path to Addenbrookes Hospital and Cambridge. The path runs from Addenbrooke’s Hospital to Great Shelford and is decorated with 10,257 colourful stripes, which represent the four nucleotides of the BRCA2 gene. The path runs alongside the railway for two miles through the flat countryside of the Cam Valley and is a popular commuter route. Each end of the path is marked by a sculpture of the DNA double helix magnified 750,000,000 times.
